Impaired driving charge laid after complaint near Vermilion
A Lloydminster man is facing impaired driving charges after Vermilion RCMP responded to a complaint about an intoxicated driver earlier this spring.
Police say they received a report on April 3 about an unwanted man who appeared intoxicated and had arrived at a home in a Dodge Caravan. The caller believed he was likely to drive again.
Officers located the man and began an investigation. Emile Therien, 46, of Lloydminster, Sask., has been charged with impaired operation of a conveyance and driving with a blood alcohol level over .08. He was also charged under the Traffic Safety Act for driving while unauthorized.
Therien was released and is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Vermilion on July 21.
Sgt. Corey Buckingham thanked the public for helping report the incident and emphasized the importance of calling police to report possible impaired drivers.
