The Strathcona County RCMP is inviting the public to a community-focused Emergency Services and Public Safety Showcase in Sherwood Park on Friday, Aug. 1.

Set to take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of Salisbury Composite High School, the event will feature booths, displays and equipment from a wide array of emergency and public safety agencies.

Local organizations on site will include RCMP, Enforcement Services, Emergency Services, Victim Services, Family Community Services, Transportation Engineering Operations, the Strathcona County Library, Crime Watch Association, and Citizens on Patrol.

Other participating groups include the Edmonton Regional Search & Rescue Association, Canadian Pacific Kansas City Police Service, Alberta Sheriffs, Fish & Wildlife Enforcement Services, Wildlife Enforcement Directorate of Environment and Climate Change Canada, MADD Edmonton & Area Chapter, Utility Safety Partners, and the Canadian Search Dog Association — which will offer a demonstration by one of its validated search and rescue dogs.

The showcase is intended to give residents a chance to learn more about the roles these agencies play in their community, engage in hands-on activities and explore emergency response equipment up close.

The Alberta RCMP recruiting team will also be in attendance to share information about career opportunities with the force.

Vehicle access to the high school lot will be limited, but additional parking is available nearby.
