Wetaskiwin RCMP arrested a prolific offender wanted on 33 outstanding charges across multiple Alberta communities during a joint operation in Edmonton.

The Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit and Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit conducted the operation Aug. 22, resulting in the arrest of 41-year-old Scott Dolbec.

Dolbec was wanted on charges originating from Edmonton, Redwater, Fort Saskatchewan, Leduc and Swan Hills. He was also wanted for escaping lawful custody out of Saskatoon, Sask.

Officers located Dolbec at an Edmonton residence. When officers attempted to arrest him, Dolbec fled on an electric pedal bike. Following a brief attempt to evade police, he was safely taken into custody.

Dolbec was brought before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody with various court dates and locations.

“Targeting repeat and prolific offenders is a team effort, and this arrest is a strong example of how crime reduction units across Alberta work together to protect our communities,” said Cst. Tom Rutland, of Wetaskiwin RCMP. “By combining resources and expertise, we’re able to ensure offenders like this are brought before the courts.”
