Vermilion RCMP have laid charges against two Mannville residents following a serious assault reported in late November.

Police were called to the Village of Mannville on Nov. 30 after receiving a report that a man had been badly assaulted and suffered serious facial injuries. Investigators identified suspects shortly after responding, according to Vermilion RCMP.

As a result of the investigation, Marie Sansome, 52, and Herbert Wold, 30, were arrested. Sansome is charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, while Wold is charged with assault causing bodily harm.

Both individuals were released on conditions while charges were pending approval.

They are scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Vermilion on Jan. 5.
