The Republican Party of Alberta has removed two United Conservative Party MLAs from its Alberta Independence Support Tracker after they confirmed they no longer support the province’s independence movement.

Minister Rajan Sawhney and Minister RJ Sigurdson requested removal from the list through their offices, according to a Republican Party of Alberta news release.

Cameron Davies, leader of the Republican Party of Alberta, says the party is disappointed the MLAs have distanced themselves from the independence movement.

“We will keep pressing all MLAs to take a clear stance on Independence. Those who refuse to support it should expect to face strong challengers in the next election,” Davies says.

The Republican Party of Alberta maintains an online tracker listing elected representatives’ positions on Alberta independence.
