Donate a toy, ditch a parking ticket at Alberta health sites
Parking tickets at Alberta health facilities can be traded for toys again this holiday season.
The annual Toys for Tickets program launched Nov. 20 across parking offices at Alberta Health Services, Primary Care Alberta, Acute Care Alberta, Assisted Living Alberta and Recovery Alberta, according to a news release.
Drivers who received tickets between Nov. 7 and Dec. 19 can bring in a new, unwrapped toy worth at least $25 instead of paying the fine. Toys must be in original packaging and suitable for children from newborn to age 17.
The program collected more than 1,150 toys provincewide last year.
“This campaign is all about bringing joy to kids across Alberta,” says Nick Ternovatsky, director of parking for AHS. “Every toy donated reflects the generosity in our communities.”
Suggested donations include books, art-and-craft kits, building sets, board games, dolls, action figures, sports balls, headphones, small electronics, journals, activity books, and gift cards for grocery stores and restaurants to help families.
Toys can be dropped off at participating parking offices during regular business hours until Dec. 19. All donations go to hospitals and local charities across Alberta.
Details on participating locations and hours are available at the Toys for Tickets page on the Alberta Health Services website.
