Sherwood Park man charged in 2024 pedestrian crash
A Sherwood Park man has been charged in connection with a 2024 crash that seriously injured two pedestrians on Georgian Way.
Strathcona County RCMP announced on July 4 that Ronald Charles Wilkinson, 67, has been charged with two counts each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
He is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Sherwood Park on Aug. 6.
The charges stem from a collision on Aug. 13, 2024, in which a vehicle travelling north on Georgian Way mounted the sidewalk and struck a man and an 11-month-old child who were walking with a dog. The vehicle came to rest on a nearby residential lawn.
Both the 36-year-old man and the child were transported to hospital with serious injuries. The dog sustained minor injuries and was taken to a vet. The driver was not injured.
RCMP had said alcohol and speed were not believed to be factors in the crash.
The investigation was led by Strathcona County RCMP.
