Highway 13 reopens after oil site fire near Provost
Highway 13 has reopened between Range Roads 21 and 23 after a fire at an oil site south of the highway prompted emergency closures Friday evening.
Provost RCMP and fire crews responded to the blaze just before 9 p.m. June 13, near the intersection of Highway 13 and Range Road 22. The fire was quickly contained by the Provost Fire Department, and no injuries were reported.
Uncertain as to whether chemicals or hazardous materials were involved in the fire, residents were initially advised to stay away from the area and reduce smoke exposure by keeping windows closed.
RCMP thanked the public for their co-operation during the incident and confirmed in a follow-up Saturday that the fire was extinguished and all roads had reopened.
