It was a very busy weekend for Pincher Creek’s minor hockey teams, with pre-season action continuing for the U18, U15, U13 and U11 divisions.

It was a very busy weekend for Pincher Creek’s minor hockey teams, with pre-season action continuing for the U18, U15, U13 and U11 divisions.

The U18 Huskies started their weekend with a game against the Vulcan Hawks, which ended tied 4-4.

The Hawks led 2-0 after the first period, but the Huskies answered with three goals of their own in the second, taking a 3-2 lead before heading into the final frame.

Brayden Anctil, Grayden Willms and Jaydon Draper were the goal scorers, with assists coming from Lane Conley and Adam Farraj.

Jaydon Draper found the back of the net early in the third period to extend the Huskies lead, but the Hawks battled back and tied the game with just over four minutes left.

Goaltending duties for the Huskies were split between Darcy Wemp and Axel Safranka. Shot statistics and save percentages are not available for this game.

On Sunday, the Huskies steamrolled the Taber Oil Kings by a score of 15-2.

Pincher Creek scored seven unanswered goals in the first period, including a hat trick from Drew Stuckey. Landon Sokoloski and Jaydon Draper each scored twice. Assisting the goals were Landon Sokoloski, Eric Radvak, Christian Potts, Damian Beswick, Adam Farraj and Quinn Douglas.

Taber opened the second period scoring, but Adam Farraj and Maddix Dyck each scored unassisted goals to ensure Pincher Creek headed to the locker room with a 9-1 lead.

The Huskies continued their dominance in the third period, adding another six goals while the Oil Kings gained only one.

Damian Beswick and Eric Radvak each found the back of the net twice, with the rest of the goals coming from Walker Anderson and Landon Sokoloski, the latter of which completed their hat trick.

Picking up helpers were Drew Stuckey, Landon Sokoloski, Maddix Dyck, Garrett Larson, Avery Stewart-Krooshoop, Walker Anderson, Nathan Mitchell and Jaydon Draper.

Pincher Creek outshot Taber 50-31.

Axel Safranka was in net for the Huskies, making 29 saves and posting an impressive .935 save percentage.

The next U18 game has not yet been scheduled.
