Western Alberta District’s Crime Reduction Unit and Peace Regional RCMP recovered a stolen vehicle and seized drugs during proactive patrols near Dixonville on Thursday, Sept. 18.

Officers were searching for a suspicious vehicle when they found one without matching plates. Investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen from a Mackenzie County residence on Aug. 7.

Police searched the vehicle and seized about 487.7 grams of suspected amphetamine in crystal form, about 17.2 grams of suspected amphetamine made to look like small pink, purple and blue beads, and about 23.6 grams of suspected amphetamine hidden inside shotgun shells.

Police also found a firearm, various ammunition, drug paraphernalia, bottles of suspected GHB, the stolen blue Ford F150, tools, jewelry and evidence of copper wire stripping.

The investigation continues. Police seek public assistance identifying individuals driving the vehicle or any information about the drugs or firearm found inside.

More items are expected to be discovered during forensic inspection. Police will work to locate rightful owners of items by cross-referencing regional files with descriptions of stolen tools and personal items.

Peace Regional RCMP are sharing images of the suspected amphetamines for awareness. They ask community members to stay vigilant if they find similar items, especially given how some look like beads children might play with unknowingly.

“Safety of the community is a significant priority,” police said. “If you suspect you have found an item that looks similar, do not touch it and call us.”
