Olds man charged with child pornography offences
An Olds resident has been charged following an investigation into child pornography that led to his arrest earlier this week.
On June 3 at approximately 9:30 a.m., Olds RCMP, with support from the Alberta RCMP Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit under ALERT, executed a search warrant at a residence in Olds. The investigation began in late May and was developed in coordination with ICE investigators.
Charles Landon, 48, has been charged with four child pornography-related offences, including transmitting or distributing, possession, accessing and publishing or making child pornography.
Following a judicial interim release hearing, Landon was released under a court order that includes a number of conditions. He is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Didsbury on July 7.
“Olds RCMP remains fully committed in building safer communities by working in partnership with our community, as well as through investigative and enforcement efforts to achieve this goal,” said Sgt. Jamie Day, Detachment Commander of Olds RCMP. “Olds RCMP would like to thank ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit for their assistance during this investigation.”
