January 5, 2021
Marlene Theresa Hochstein passed away peacefully on Jan. 2, 2021, in Calgary at the age of 79, after fighting a courageous battle with dementia and COPD. She touched the lives of many and served her faith and general community in various ways.

Marlene was born and lived in Pincher Creek for a majority of her life. After attending college in Calgary, she worked at the Pincher Creek hospital as a medical secretary, and then stayed home to raise her family and help Leonard on the ranch. Marlene went back to work at the veterinary clinic when she and Leonard moved off the farm, and then at Rexall Pharmacy and a few other odd jobs.

She was a member of the Community Hall Association and acted as a judge for years at the yearly town fair, and was involved in local 4-H clubs as leader and judge over the years. She was also a lifelong member of the CWL and was a committed, and very involved, member of the Roman Catholic Church community in Pincher Creek. She was loved by many and will be truly missed.

Marlene is survived by her children, Ron (Della) Hochstein of Coquitlam, B.C., and Debbie (Rob) Kinnon of Calgary; grandsons Jordan (Teagan) Kinnon and their son, and her great-grandson, Dax of Cochrane, Alta., and Tyler Kinnon of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by her brothers, Rodney (Betty) Cyr and Clarence (Helen) Cyr, both of Pincher Creek, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Leonard; her mother and father, Dorothea and Eugene Cyr; her mother and father-in-law, Edith and Cyril Hochstein; her brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Marion Hochstein, sister-in-law Doris Hochstein; and her nephews Gary and Kelly Hochstein.

Due to current Covid conditions, funeral services are being postponed until further notice. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Marlene’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

The family wants to thank the staff at the Pincher Creek hospital and the staff at Agecare Skypointe in Calgary for their loving and dedicated care of Marlene over the past 2½ years.
