Obituary for Donna Frances Bruder

Donna was born in Pincher Creek on Sept. 3, 1958, to Frances and Edward Bruder; she was the oldest daughter of five children. She enjoyed her life on the ranch playing and taking care of her siblings — Wayne, Brenda, Lana and Carmen — and riding and caring for horses and enjoying the beauty that the outdoors had to offer her.
At the age of 34, Donna had her only child: her son, Ty — the love of her life. She was a loving, kind mother who worked hard raising him to be the man he is today. Donna and Ty enjoyed wonderful times together fishing and camping.
Donna worked at the Waterton Shell gas plant for many years. It was there that she developed a close relationship with her friend Darlene. These two ladies went on many camping trips together and became good friends.
Later in life, Donna worked at Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village, cataloguing artifacts as they arrived at the museum.
Among Donna’s passions was her love of archery, winning some prestigious awards over the years. She was also a very active supporter of the Métis culture and created many pieces of art, which she proudly displayed in her home.
Donna leaves behind her son, Ty Bowersock of Pincher Creek; her mother, Frances Riviere of Pincher Creek; her siblings: Wayne (Leah) Bruder of Pincher Creek, Brenda (Neil) Cofell of Pincher Creek, Lana Bruder of Pincher Creek and Carmen (Cori) Petersen of Coaldale; her special friends Darlene Schile, Karen and Cody Gamache, Sue Zieffle, and Kim and Kelly LeBlanc.
She was predeceased by her father, Edward Bruder (2006).
The funeral mass for the late Donna Bruder was held on Dec. 30, 2020, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, with Father Myles Gaffney, celebrant. Interment followed at the Fairview Cemetery.
Due to Covid restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions for Donna may be made to Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village.
