Oct. 7 south-zone Covid-19 update
Pincher Creek, Crowsnest Pass, Waterton
all without new Covid cases today

Covid-19 Update
By Shannon Robison

For the first time since Aug. 9, no new cases were reported in today's update for the Pincher Creek area. As an added bonus, recoveries brought active cases down by four.

While Crowsnest Pass had two days in late September with no new Covid cases, it is good to see a zero reported there today as well and for active cases to drop by one.

Waterton was the other area with no new cases to report, while Fort Macleod added a record number of new cases for a single day.

Two of 26 Covid-related deaths reported today are in the south zone. The deceased are a woman in her 60s and a man in his 70s, both from Medicine Hat. Condolences are extended to family members and friends.

With an adjustment removing one death from Cardston County, the net increase for the south zone today is one.

Covid-19 immunization walk-in clinics are now available at Brooks, Cardston, Crowsnest Pass, Fort Macleod, Lethbridge, Magrath, Medicine Hat, Milk River, Oyen, Picture Butte, Pincher Creek, Raymond and Taber.

Details including dates, hours and vaccine types available are included in the community information section of this post.

Remember to take your Alberta health care card and photo ID. You are required to wear a face mask and use hand sanitizer at vaccination sites.

First doses are available to those born in 2009 or earlier.

Second doses are available to those who received Pfizer or Moderna as a first dose 28 days ago or more.

Third doses are available to all Albertans aged 75 and older; First Nations, Inuit and Metis people aged 65 and older; seniors living in congregate care facilities; immunocompromised; and travellers to juisdictions where AstraZeneca/Covisield or mixed doses are not recognized.

AstraZeneca/Covishield vaccinations must be book through Health Link by calling 811."

Statistics in this post are current as of Oct. 6 and were updated Oct. 7, 2021

This Covid-19 update provides details for Pincher Creek, Crowsnest Pass and all communities in the south zone, and more general information for other zones and Alberta as a whole. It includes new cases and positivity rates, active cases, recoveries and recovery rates, hospitalizations and ICU admissions, deaths and mortality rates, R values, outbreaks, school information, immunization updates, Alberta Health video and more, compiled from Alberta Health and Alberta Health Services data.

Updates are provided every day that Alberta Health releases new data. The goal of our posts is to provide all of the detailed information in an easy-to-understand format and all in one place. Thank you for supporting our advertisers and for choosing Shootin' the Breeze as an information source.

"The zone of current hospitalization and current ICU admission are based on a patient's location of hospitalization, not the zone of patient residence. For example, a Pincher Creek resident hospitalized in Calgary is categorized as an active case in the Pincher Creek region, and their hospitalization statistic will show in the Calgary zone.

Alberta Health shares information regarding deaths as soon as it is available. There can be delays in death reporting to Alberta Health or in post-mortem confirmation of a death having Covid-19 as a contributing cause. The number reported on any given day is typically a total from multiple days."
