June 4 Covid-19 update
Hospitalizations drop below 400

Covid-19 Update
Jenaya Launstein

Both hospitalizations and ICU admissions dropped over the past 24 hours. Hospitalizations dropped from 411 to 379, while ICU admissions went from 120 to 108.

No new cases of Covid-19 were reported for the Pincher Creek area and Crowsnest Pass. In fact, the south zone had only 10 cases confirmed in today's update. They are split between Medicine Hat, County of Newell, MD of Taber, Lethbridge County and the City of Lethbridge.

Those who received first doses of vaccine in March can now book their second shots through the Associate Clinic in Pincher Creek, AHS or a participating pharmacy. People who received Pfizer or Moderna as a first dose should get the same for their second. Those whose first shot was AstraZeneca can choose whether to get a second dose of the same or to receive Pfizer or Moderna instead.

If your first dose was in April, you can book the second starting June 14. If it was in May, bookings will be accepted starting June 28.

As of June 3 there are 1,387,689 cases of Covid-19 across Canada.

To date, 5.1 per cent of Albertans are confirmed to have contracted the virus.

Statistics in this post are current as of June 3 and were updated June 4

This Covid-19 update provides details for Pincher Creek, Crowsnest Pass and all communities in the south zone, and more general information for other zones and Alberta as a whole. It includes new cases and positivity rates, active cases, recoveries and recovery rates, hospitalizations and ICU admissions, deaths and mortality rates, R values, outbreaks, school information, immunization updates, Alberta Health video and more, compiled from Alberta Health and Alberta Health Services data.

Updates are provided every day that Alberta Health releases new data. The goal of our posts is to provide all of the detailed information in an easy-to-understand format and all in one place. Thank you for supporting our advertisers and for choosing Shootin' the Breeze as an information source.

"The zone of current hospitalization and current ICU admission are based on a patient's location of hospitalization, not the zone of patient residence. For example, a Pincher Creek resident hospitalized in Calgary is categorized as an active case in the Pincher Creek region, and their hospitalization statistic will show in the Calgary zone.

Alberta Health shares information regarding deaths as soon as it is available. There can be delays in death reporting to Alberta Health or in post-mortem confirmation of a death having Covid-19 as a contributing cause. The number reported on any given day is typically a total from multiple days."
