RCMP seize drugs and cash in Fort Saskatchewan raid
A recent RCMP investigation has led to a major drug seizure in Fort Saskatchewan, with officers recovering a wide range of controlled substances and more than $66,000 in cash.
The Fort Saskatchewan RCMP Crime Reduction Unit and General Investigations Section began investigating two individuals in April believed to be trafficking drugs in the community. On May 29, officers arrested a suspect and executed search warrants at two residences — one on Durrand Bend and another on Roseberry Lane.
Police seized:
More than $66,000 in Canadian currency
68 cartons of illegal cigarettes and cigars
300 grams of cocaine
350 grams of MDMA
1.6 pounds of psilocybin
728 doses of LSD
Six pounds of dried cannabis
Two pounds of hashish
Smaller quantities of GHB, cannabis derivatives and various other substances
Two people were charged with multiple offences and released with a court date set for July 10 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Saskatchewan. Their names have not yet been released as the charges have not been officially sworn.
“Your Fort Saskatchewan RCMP has a number of highly trained and specialized units in place to combat criminal activity in our communities. Results like this only come from the dedicated execution of well-informed planning, intelligence-led policing and the hard work of good people,” said Staff Sgt. Scott Lande, acting detachment commander.
Residents with concerns about similar activity are encouraged to contact RCMP at 310-RCMP (7267).
