A Devon man wanted on charges related to sexual offences against a minor has been arrested in Edmonton.

Darryl Labrecque, 48, was taken into custody by members of the Alberta RCMP Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, according to Parkland RCMP.

Labrecque had been the subject of a manhunt since charges were laid following an Oct. 10 report to Devon RCMP of offences against a minor.

“Our Central Alberta Crime Reduction Unit worked tirelessly in finding this individual, and the RCMP here in Parkland and Devon are grateful for their assistance,” said Parkland Staff Sgt. Brent Meyer. “We would like to take the opportunity to thank members of public for their assistance on this.”

RCMP had issued a warrant for Labrecque’s arrest and believed he was actively avoiding apprehension.

Labrecque faces charges of sexual interference with a person under 16 years of age, invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age and two counts of breaching release conditions.

He will appear before a Justice of the Peace to determine future court appearances.
