Alberta MLA heads to Washington for energy policy training
Chestermere-Strathmore MLA Chantelle de Jonge will travel to Washington, D.C. from Oct. 22 to 25 to complete energy policy training and meet with U.S. legislators, according to a Government of Alberta news release.
De Jonge will finish the second half of training at the Legislative Energy Horizon Institute, building on sessions she attended in July. The program covers emerging energy sources, new technologies, U.S. energy imports and exports, and energy policy considerations.
The training includes meetings with U.S. legislators and policymakers on North American energy security.
“Attending LEHI offers a valuable opportunity to learn from experts in energy policy and collaborate with legislators shaping policy discussions,” de Jonge said.
Founded in 2009 by the Pacific NorthWest Economic Region, University of Idaho and U.S. Department of Energy, LEHI provides training to elected officials from across the U.S. and Canada. More than 400 legislators, governors and policymakers have completed the program.
De Jonge serves as Alberta’s delegate council to PNWER.
Mission expenses will be posted on the government’s travel and expense disclosure page.
