High Prairie RCMP have completed a police operation in the Driftpile area where one suspect remains at large following an armed robbery that began Tuesday morning in Grouard.

RCMP received a report of an armed robbery around 9:50 a.m. on Sept. 10. The suspects were located but fled the scene, heading towards Driftpile where they abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot near Highway 2 and Driftpile Beach Road.

Police conducted an extensive search for three suspects, initially reported as two males and one female. The operation has now concluded with one suspect still unaccounted for, though police believe the individual is no longer in the area.

During the search, RCMP asked residents in the area to lock their doors and avoid opening them to strangers. Motorists were warned against picking up hitchhikers in the region until the operation was complete.

High Prairie RCMP thank the public for their co-operation during the incident.

Anyone with information about the armed robbery or the outstanding suspect is asked to contact High Prairie RCMP.
